A Volkswagen Jetta and Honda Accord crashed just after 6 a.m. in the 3700 block of George Mason Drive near Skyline Plaza. It's unclear what caused the wreck, but Fredericksburg police said a passenger in the Jetta died as a result. The drivers of both cars were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police have not released any details on their conditions.
Fredericksburg police shut down all northbound traffic on George Mason Drive and closed one southbound lane near the wreck as they investigated the scene.
